Days 1–3: swelling and rest

Days 4–7: settling in

- Swelling improving slowly
- Bruising may appear or fade
- Smiling or laughing may feel tight
Plan for
- Social downtime (many people prefer about at least 7 days which is the time when the stitches come out and the healing scar can be covered with makeup)
Week 2: more comfortable
- Swelling continues to improve
- The incision will still look slightly red but often looks better week by week
- Many patients feel more comfortable in public
Weeks 3–12: Refinement
- Softening continues though the upper lip can still feel tight and have a “pulled” sensation
- The lip shape starts to feel more natural in motion
- The scar continues to fade
Week 12 onwards
- This is when we can start seeing a more relaxed look to the lip
- The lip shape starts to feel more natural and when we can start to expect to see final results
